Traffic police filed a total of 915 cases against vehicles emitting smoke during various drives conducted across the capital throughout July.
According to DMP’s Traffic Division, these regular operations are part of a broader initiative to curb black environmental pollution and prevent the discharge of excessive smoke from vehicles plying the city streets.
The legal actions were the result of consistent monitoring and enforcement in different areas of the capital over the past month.
A detailed breakdown of the cases recorded by the eight traffic divisions reveals that the Traffic Motijheel Division saw the highest level of enforcement with 354 cases, followed by 172 cases in the Traffic Wari Division and 131 in the Traffic Tejgaon Division.
Furthermore, the Traffic Uttara Division filed 128 cases, while the Traffic Gulshan, Traffic Mirpur, Traffic Ramna, and Traffic Lalbagh divisions registered 56, 36, 34, and four cases, respectively.
DMP said the drives and legal measures against polluting vehicles will continue as part of an ongoing effort to safeguard the environment.
