The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed 406 cases against vehicles for violating traffic rules during drives conducted across the capital on Saturday.
Deputy Commissioner of DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division Muhammad Talebur Rahman, PPM confirmed the information on a press release on Sunday.
According to traffic sources, Ramna Division filed 47 cases, including against one bus, one truck, five covered vans, two CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 16 motorcycles.
Lalbagh Division filed 36 cases involving three trucks, four CNGs and 25 motorcycles.
Motijheel Division recorded the highest number of cases at 85, including four buses, one truck, six covered vans, 11 CNGs and 52 motorcycles.
Wari Division filed 54 cases against four trucks, two covered vans, two CNGs and 40 motorcycles.
In Tejgaon Division, 25 cases were filed involving one truck, three covered vans, four CNGs and nine motorcycles.
Mirpur Division filed 74 cases against four buses, two trucks, three covered vans, four CNGs and 42 motorcycles.
Uttara Division filed 46 cases involving three buses, one truck, two covered vans, six CNGs and 15 motorcycles.
Gulshan Division filed 39 cases against one bus, two trucks, one CNG and eight motorcycles.
During the drives, authorities dumped 185 vehicles and towed another 101 using wreckers, traffic sources said.
DMP officials said the regular drives would continue to maintain traffic discipline across the Dhaka metropolitan area.
