The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed 2,323 cases against motorists for violating traffic rules during drives conducted across the capital on Tuesday.
According to DMP Traffic Division sources, the highest number of cases was recorded in the Mirpur division, where 512 cases were filed. The violations involved 18 buses, 22 trucks, 24 covered vans, 76 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 306 motorcycles.
The Motijheel division recorded 463 cases, including 19 buses, one truck, 21 covered vans, 91 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 271 motorcycles.
A total of 462 cases were filed in the Uttara division, involving 68 buses, one truck, 18 covered vans, 82 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 180 motorcycles.
In the Gulshan division, 242 cases were filed, while Wari recorded 211 cases, Tejgaon 169, Lalbagh 166 and Ramna 97.
Besides filing cases, traffic police impounded 479 vehicles and towed away another 345 during the enforcement drives.
DMP officials said the operations would continue across the capital to ensure traffic discipline and improve road safety.
