The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed a total of 2,114 cases against different types of vehicles for violating traffic rules during simultaneous enforcement drives across various parts of the capital on Tuesday.
According to sources within the DMP Traffic Division, the operation targeted multiple categories of vehicles across eight traffic divisions as part of efforts to maintain discipline on city roads.
During the drive, authorities also impounded 395 vehicles and removed 317 others from operation for various traffic violations.
A breakdown of the cases shows that Traffic-Motijheel Division recorded the highest number of violations with 477 cases, involving buses, trucks, covered vans, CNG-run auto-rickshaws and motorcycles.
Traffic-Uttara Division registered 451 cases, followed by Traffic-Mirpur with 405 cases. Traffic-Gulshan recorded 213 cases, Traffic-Wari 195, Traffic-Lalbagh 159, and Traffic-Tejgaon 147 cases.
The lowest number of cases was recorded in Traffic-Ramna Division, where 67 cases were filed against different categories of vehicles.
DMP officials said enforcement drives will continue in the coming days to ensure compliance with traffic regulations across the capital.
