The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on all public gatherings near the Bangladesh Secretariat and the official residence of the Chief Adviser, Jamuna, effective from 6 December until further notice.
According to a notice issued on Thursday, the restrictions have been enforced to maintain public order and ensure the security of the Chief Adviser, under the authority of Section 29 of the DMP Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76).
The notice prohibits all types of meetings, assemblies, processions, human chains, sit-ins, and similar gatherings in the Bangladesh Secretariat, including adjacent areas, as well as the vicinity of the Chief Adviser’s residence.
The restricted area extends from Hotel Intercontinental Crossing, Kakrail Mosque Crossing, Officers Club Crossing to Mintu Road Crossing.
The ban will remain in effect until the DMP issues further orders.
