Actor Disha Patani has shared her experience of working with Kevin Spacey on her Hollywood debut, describing the Oscar-winning actor-director as one of the finest performers in the world. She also spoke about the demanding audition process and logistical challenges of building a career in Hollywood.
According to the Hindustan Times, Disha will make her Hollywood debut in Holiguards Saga – The Portal of Force, a supernatural action thriller directed by Kevin Spacey. The film marks Spacey’s fifth project since he was acquitted of sexual assault charges in the UK in 2023.
Speaking to Variety India, Disha praised Spacey’s approach to directing. “He is amazing. Being an actor, he understands his actors. He is one of the finest actors in the world,” she said. She explained that Spacey encouraged actors to experiment and draw from their own experiences while performing. According to Disha, he discussed every scene with the cast each morning and asked them how they would react emotionally in different situations. She said the process helped her understand her character more deeply and was unlike any experience she had with previous filmmakers.
The actor also spoke about the realities of entering the international film industry. She said accessibility plays a major role and noted that the West places strong emphasis on auditions. According to Disha, opportunities depend on representation, auditions, visa requirements and other practical factors. While actors can audition remotely, she believes spending time in the country is important to secure roles and build a career.
Holiguards Saga – The Portal of Force is written by Sergey Torchilin and Lado Okhotnikov. Alongside Disha Patani and Kevin Spacey, the cast includes Dolph Lundgren, Tyrese Gibson, Brianna Hildebrand and Eric Roberts.
The film had a private premiere in Berlin in February this year. Its worldwide release date has not yet been announced.
