The alumni association of Dhaka University’s 1995-96 batch, Dhaka University Friends Alliance (DUFA), successfully held its 5th Mega Reunion and Annual General Meeting (AGM) through various activities.
The reunion, held on Friday at the Dhaka University Student-Teacher Centre (TSC), began with the national anthem, hoisting of the national flag, release of pigeons, and the cutting of a cake, marking the opening of the event.
The ceremony was inaugurated by the chief guest, Dhaka University’s Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr Sayema Haque Bidisha.
“Such events must be held every year to bring everyone together,” she said.
Special guests at the event included Dhaka University Proctor Professor Saifuddin Ahmed and Managing Director and CEO of Pubali Bank Mohammad Ali.
Other distinguished attendees were Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser Azad Majumder, Satkhira District Commissioner Mustak Ahmed, ICT Division Joint Secretary Saiful Hassan, Deputy Secretary Arifuzzaman, DUFA founder President Advocate A K M Enayet Hossain, and Customs Additional Commissioner and DUFA founder General Secretary Dr Syed Nearul Islam.
Also present were CID Additional DIG Jahidul Islam, Sports Editor of Prothom Alo Tarek Mahmud, and Director of Rizvi Fashion Limited Fahmida Khatun.
After a long time apart, attendees greeted each other, exchanged pleasantries, reminisced about their student days, and shared past experiences.
Children enjoyed various rides and recreational activities at the event.
The day began with registration, reporting, and breakfast at 9 am, followed by a grand rally. This was followed by the opening of the 5th Mega Reunion, speeches recalling memories, and recognition of the new generation.
The AGM took place in the afternoon, and after a break for Juma prayers and lunch, the cultural performances by the new generation began in the evening. The cultural programme was divided into two parts, with members also participating.
After the evening prayer break, a music show by guest artists was held.
According to DUFA members, such events will continue in the future, with a special emphasis on involving the new generation.
DUFA was officially established on December 2, 2016. The first reunion of Dhaka University’s 1995-96 batch was held in 2017.
