The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for online submission of value-added tax (VAT) returns for the July–September 2026 tax periods to 25 October, allowing taxpayers to file without incurring interest or penalties.

The extension follows amendments to VAT return filing provisions introduced through the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026, as part of the national budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year, according to an NBR office order.

The changes require administrative adjustments to the NBR’s Electronic VAT (eVAT) system to accommodate the revised return filing provisions.

The revenue authority said it had extended the deadline in the public interest, exercising its powers under Section 64(2) of the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act, 2012.
