Bangladesh continued their fine form in the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Cup with a dramatic 3–2 victory over Sri Lanka, marking their third straight win in the tournament.
The clash at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Friday was fiercely contested from start to finish. The hosts began strongly, taking the opening set 25–20 before doubling their advantage 25–21 in the second.
Sri Lanka responded with renewed energy in the third, dominating 25–15 to get back into the match. The fourth set proved even tighter, with both sides matching each other point for point until Sri Lanka edged it 25–22 to force a decider.
In the final set, Bangladesh showed greater composure under pressure. With the score locked at 11–11, the home side surged ahead to win four straight points and clinch the set 15–11, sealing a thrilling 3–2 victory. Naim was named Player of the Match for his pivotal role in the win.
Bangladesh had earlier beaten the Maldives 3–0 in their opening fixture and overcame Nepal 3–2 in their second match. This latest result further strengthens their position in the CAVA Cup standings.
