Dhaka Capitals have raised serious concerns over the conduct of the Integrity Unit in the Bangladesh Premier League. Chief executive Atik Fahad warned that continuing in the league may become impossible if the situation does not change. He said, “I spend money here, suffer losses, bring in CSR funds, and then leave with disrespect. That cannot happen.”
The Integrity Unit of the Bangladesh Cricket Board is responsible for maintaining transparency in the Bangladesh Premier League. Fahad, however, claimed that rules and proper process were not followed during recent actions. He said such behaviour has left the franchise deeply frustrated.
Two Dhaka players, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Saif Hassan, were questioned without prior notice. Fahad said officials entered Gurbaz’s hotel room without informing the team management. Saif was questioned just before going out to bat, while already wearing his pads. Fahad’s phone was also seized during the process.
Describing the incident, Fahad said, “Gurbaz went to sleep around seven or eight in the morning. Suddenly, a few people entered his room. Neither the team manager nor the player was informed beforehand.” He said Gurbaz remained confused for several minutes as he had just woken up. Fahad later found out that the visitors were from the anti-corruption unit. They checked the player’s phone and asked several questions.
Fahad believes this situation is affecting the team on the field. He said, “If the management and players are not mentally stable, how can we expect good results?” He added that Dhaka run the BPL at a loss of two to three crore taka every year. “If we are mentally harassed like this, I do not know how we can stay competitive or how a franchise league can be run,” he said.
He made it clear that respect matters. Fahad said continuing under such pressure raises serious doubts about the future of the franchise in the league.
