The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has formed a three‑member committee to investigate the deaths of six newborns at Ad‑Din Hospital in Dhaka’s Moghbazar, its Director General Prof Prabhat Chandra Biswas said.
The probe body will submit its report within 72 hours, he informed the reporters after inspecting the hospital’s post‑delivery ward around noon on Wednesday.
He told reporters the environment had become suffocating early in the morning due to air‑conditioning complications or other causes.
“We found the AC system was such that once it was switched off, there was no ventilation. In that situation, we lost six children under treatment,” he said.
Acting Health Secretary and DGHS Additional Director General (Administration) Prof Md Zahid Raihan was present there.
