Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain on Thursday warned that the severity of dengue could increase during the months of July and August.
However, he assured that Ministry of Health and the Directorate have maintained adequate preparations to control the situation.
The minister made these remarks while addressing a programme at Pathology Department of Dhaka Medical College.
Regarding medical readiness, he said Dengue NS1 antigen test kits have already been dispatched to thana, upazila, and district levels.
The hospitals in Dhaka and other major cities have been kept ready and will be fully activated if the number of patients increases.
The health minister also issued a call for collective action to prevent the spread of the disease. He urged everyone, ranging from the union level to mosque Imams, to ensure their environments are kept clean.
