The DSE Brokers Association of Bangladesh (DBA) has expressed its satisfaction following the inclusion of capital market reform and development plans in the election manifesto of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

In a reaction shared on Sunday, DBA President Saiful Islam thanked Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and expressed his gratitude to the party’s Ameer, Dr Shafiqur Rahman, and its top policy makers, according to a statement issued by the organisation.

The Jamaat manifesto promises to take effective measures to stop all forms of irregularities and manipulation in the share market. It also pledges to make the market dynamic and effective by removing the current lack of confidence and vows to bring those involved in stock market scams to justice.

“In the past, political parties have not given the capital market proper importance,” said DBA President Saiful Islam.

He further noted that the DBA has long been demanding, through meetings and seminars with the government and various political parties, that the capital market be recognised as a vital economic sector and provided with policy support.

“This is the first time a political party has given special importance to the capital market by including it in an election manifesto and presenting a clear plan for the reform and development of this sector to the public,” he added.

The DBA stated that if the announced manifesto is properly implemented, it will accelerate the sustainable development of the capital market, establish good governance, create an investment-friendly environment, and restore confidence in the market.
