Daniel Radcliffe has shared his personal ranking of the ‘Harry Potter’ films, revealing both his favourite and least favourite entries in the long-running franchise during a recent podcast appearance.
Speaking on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast, the actor said he now views the earlier films more fondly, admitting that as a younger adult he often “cringed” when watching his early performances. He added that his perspective has shifted with age, particularly as he revisits the films more objectively.
Radcliffe, who was nine when filming began on ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ and 20 when the final film wrapped, said the franchise continues to feel different to him as he gets older.
During a bracket-style discussion with host Josh Horowitz, Radcliffe ultimately named ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2’ as his favourite film in the series, saying it stood out above the rest.
He also pointed to ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’ as a strong contender, while ranking ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ as his least favourite, clarifying that his view was based on his personal experience rather than the film’s quality.
Radcliffe admitted he was surprised by some of his own choices, noting that he did not initially expect ‘Goblet of Fire’ to emerge as his second favourite. He also praised ‘Chamber of Secrets’, highlighting his enjoyment of the basilisk storyline.
The actor acknowledged that fans often expect him to favour ‘Prisoner of Azkaban’, but said he personally connected more with his work on the fourth film.
Despite his long association with the franchise, Radcliffe has previously said he rarely rewatched the films in full, though he has become more reflective about them in recent years.
He also expressed enthusiasm about younger audiences discovering the story through the upcoming television reboot.
