Daniel Radcliffe and Tom Felton delighted fans with a rare public reunion in New York City on December 1, marking their first photographed appearance together since 2011. The pair met at a special screening of ‘Merrily We Roll Along’, the filmed version of the acclaimed 2023 Stephen Sondheim revival featuring Radcliffe.
According to attendees, the long-time friends greeted each other with a warm hug before posing for photos, something they have not done publicly since the premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.
Radcliffe, 36, and Felton, 38, first crossed paths on the set of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, released 24 years ago. Though their characters clashed on screen, the actors have maintained a close friendship. Felton recently credited Radcliffe with inspiring his passion for theatre, saying on Good Morning America that seeing his co-star’s early Broadway work pushed him to pursue the stage.
Felton is currently appearing on Broadway in ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’, reprising his role as Draco Malfoy. The production continues to be a major draw, recently breaking Thanksgiving week box-office records with takings of more than $3 million.
Radcliffe, who has yet to catch Felton’s performance, praised his friend’s success and said he was thrilled to have him in the city. The actor will return to Broadway himself next year in the solo play ‘Every Brilliant Thing’, opening at the Hudson Theatre in March 2026. He also appears in the cinema release of Merrily We Roll Along, arriving in UK cinemas on December 5.
