Daffodil Group has announced a historic corporate commitment to dedicate one-third of its net profit to the welfare of the people of Bangladesh from 2026 onward, setting a new benchmark in responsible corporate leadership in the country.

The announcement was made on Friday during the Group’s annually scheduled Family Day, held at Daffodil Smart City in Savar, according to a press release.

The event coincided with the final day of the National Mourning observance marking the passing of three-time former prime minister and national leader Khaleda Zia.

More than 6,500 members of the Daffodil Family gathered to pay tribute to her memory and pray for the eternal peace of her soul.

At the same event, Daffodil Group formally declared that one-third of the net profit of all its concerns will be allocated for public welfare and national development. The commitment was enacted through an official agreement, underscoring that the Group’s future direction will prioritise public welfare alongside business growth.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of Daffodil Group, Dr Sabur Khan, said, “From 2026, one-third of the net profit of all Daffodil Group concerns will be dedicated to public welfare.”

He emphasised that the initiative goes beyond conventional corporate social responsibility, adding, “This is not just a donation; it is a nation building investment.”

From a broader perspective, He noted that in a country with limited resources and a large population, the absence of humanity could make society unsafe for all, stressing the importance of ethical and compassionate corporate leadership.

It was also announced that the district-based development model implemented by Daffodil Foundation since 2000 will be expanded nationwide from 2026. Through this expansion, the Group reaffirmed its commitment to working with promising and potential youth across all districts of Bangladesh.

During the programme, Daffodil Group elaborated on the vision behind its One-Third Social Commitment, clarifying that the initiative is not a conventional act of charity but a long-term nation-building plan. The fund will support continuous investment in education and scholarships, youth leadership development, job creation, healthcare, social protection, and innovation. The nationwide scaling of district-based development initiatives will take effect from 2026.

Chief Executive Officer of Daffodil Group, Dr Mohammad Nuruzzaman, said, allocating one-third of the Group’s net profit will not affect the salaries, benefits, or allowances of employees at any level.

According to the Group, the initiative will instill pride among employees, as their work will directly contribute to national welfare.

Daffodil Group aims to evolve beyond a corporate entity into a partner in national development, positioning itself as a national asset and promoting a culture of responsible corporate citizenship in Bangladesh.

The announcement reflects the Group’s belief that institutional success becomes meaningful when growth positively impacts people’s lives, marking another step toward a humane, sustainable, and values-driven future.
