The date for the Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU) election has been deferred. The election will now be held on 15 October, instead of the previously scheduled 12 October.
Election Commission Secretary Professor Dr AKM Ariful Haque Siddique made the announcement on Tuesday.
He stated that the decision to reschedule the election was taken following a significant meeting of the election commissioners, which addressed complaints from candidates about limited time for campaigning. The Cucsu election will now be held on 15 October instead of 12 October.
While the final list of candidates was initially set to be published on 25 September, the election commission noted that campaigning would be limited to five days, as it overlaps with the Durga Puja holidays.
To ensure sufficient time for campaigning, the election commission has decided to extend the campaign period.
