Chittagong University (CU) has suspended all scheduled examinations for Monday in the wake of violent clashes between students and local residents.
The announcement was made through an official notice signed by Acting Controller of Examinations, Professor Momtaz Uddin Ahmed, and issued at 7pm on Sunday.
The notice stated that new dates for the postponed exams will be announced later.
The decision comes amid escalating tensions on campus following a reported incident of harassment involving a female student around 11:30pm on August 30. The incident triggered widespread student protests the following morning.
Clashes reignited around noon on Sunday near the Gate-2 of the university, leaving over 150 people injured, including CU’s Pro-Vice Chancellor, the Proctor, and a number of students.
In response, authorities imposed Section 144 in the area until September 1 and deployed joint security forces to restore order.
The situation remains tense as university authorities and law enforcement work to stabilize the campus environment.
