Bangladesh Safe Food Authority (BFSA) fined the popular eatery ‘Kacchi Dine’ Tk 3 lakh during a mobile court operation in the Chawkbazar area of Chattogram city on Thursday
The drive was led by Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner Land Sonia Haque.
During the inspection, the mobile court found food being prepared and stored in highly unhygienic conditions in the kitchen and raw material storage areas.
Officials reported cockroach and rat infestation in the kitchen, damp floors and an overall filthy environment, which they said posed a serious risk to public health.

Authorities also found several irregularities, including failure to preserve purchase receipts for food items and the absence of health certificates for staff. Labelling of Mawa products was found incomplete and not in line with prescribed regulations.
For the offences, the owners were fined Tk3 lakh under Section 33 of the Safe Food Act, 2013, and the fine was realised on the spot.
The operation was conducted with support from officials of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority Chattogram District and Metropolitan offices, the Safe Food Inspector of Chattogram City Corporation and a team from Chawkbazar Police Station under Chattogram Metropolitan Police.
Bangladesh Food Safety Authority Chattogram District Safe Food Officer Farhan Islam said such drives would continue in the interest of public health.
