The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for individual taxpayers to submit their income tax returns to March 31, providing an additional month for compliance.
This marks the fourth extension of the filing deadline this fiscal year.
A notification issued by the tax authority on Thursday confirmed the extension.
Earlier, the deadline had been set for 28 February, following an earlier push from 31 January. The original cut-off for filing returns was 30 November.
The NBR has also extended the deadline for paper-based returns to 15 March, up from the earlier deadline of 28 February, citing public interest as the reason for the decision.
This year, the NBR has made online filing mandatory for nearly all individual taxpayers, expanding the requirement beyond previous years when it applied mainly to government employees in certain city corporations, employees of scheduled banks, telecom operators, and large private companies.
The extension aims to give taxpayers adequate time to comply while easing the administrative burden amid growing adoption of digital filing systems.
