Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) PLC has published the country’s first Bangla-language guidebook on commodity derivatives trading as the bourse moves to expand awareness around commodity market operations.
The publication, titled Commodity Derivatives Insights, was unveiled in Dhaka by CSE Chairman AKM Habibur Rahman in the presence of members of the exchange’s board of directors, the bourse said in a press release.
The book explains the structure and participants of an organised commodity market and provides a simplified overview of futures contract trading on commodity derivatives exchanges, according to the CSE chairman.
The publication also discusses the relationship and differences between commodity derivatives and spot markets, the role of clearing corporations in commodity derivatives activities, and price risk management mechanisms in commodity exchanges.
It further covers hedging culture and the importance of hedging in the broader economy.
The book includes frequently asked questions on commodity derivatives trading and a glossary of relevant terminology.
AKM Habibur Rahman said the publication would help potential market participants and readers reduce knowledge gaps regarding commodity exchanges and encourage greater interest in commodity trading mechanisms.
The guidebook also introduces several commodities expected to be traded during the initial phase of the planned CSE commodity exchange.
In addition, it analyses the current state and future prospects of Bangladesh’s commodity market.
