Corporate Academy for Professional Excellence (CAPE) hosted ‘Bangladesh Post-Budget Summit 2026’ to discuss the implementation of the National Budget 2026-27, revenue-sector reforms and measures to create a more business-friendly policy environment on July 31.
Held at Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of University of Dhaka under the theme ‘From Policy to Practice,’ the summit was driven by Toyota Bangladesh and brought together more than 400 corporate professionals, entrepreneurs, business leaders, lawyers, tax and VAT practitioners, economists and policymakers, said a press release on Monday.
Adviser to the Prime Minister on Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Planning Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, attended the event as chief guest, while Chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Masud Khan delivered a special guest address.
A panel discussion on budget implementation, taxation, VAT, customs and revenue reforms featured Mutasim Billah Faruqi, Member (Tax Policy) of National Board of Revenue (NBR); Md Azizur Rahman, Member (VAT Policy), NBR; AKM Mahbubur Rahman, Member of the Customs, Excise and VAT Appellate Tribunal; and Bapon Chandra Das, Joint Commissioner of Taxes, NBR. The discussion was moderated by Md Arifur Rahman, Founder and Chairman of CAPE.
The summit also featured keynote presentations on income tax, VAT and customs measures under the National Budget 2026-27. The presentations were delivered by Tariq Hassan, First Secretary and Additional Commissioner, Customs Policy and ICT; Ahsan Ullah Tarun, Joint Commissioner, Customs, Excise and VAT; and Snehasish Barua FCA, Partner at Snehasish Mahmud & Co.
The event also marked the launch of ‘Bangladesh Budget Review 2026’, CAPE’s annual publication analysing taxation, fiscal policy, investment, trade, economic outlook and business implications of the national budget.
According to CAPE, the summit and publication aim to strengthen dialogue between policymakers, regulators, professionals, academics and private-sector stakeholders to support effective policy implementation and informed business decisions.
