Youth and Sports Minister and former captain of the national football team Md Aminul Haque has announced that the construction of mini stadiums has began in every upazila across the country in accordance with a government decision.
He said that these initiatives will play a crucial role in expanding sports at the grassroots level and building a healthy, drug-free nation. He said these as the chief guest during the foundation stone laying ceremony of a mini stadium in Kachuai Union under Patiya Upazila, Chattogram, on Friday afternoon.
Aminul noted that the country’s sports arena is currently progressing rapidly. Programmes such as sports allowances and sports cards have already launched. He mentioned that the government has taken the initiative to construct modern mini stadiums in every upazila according to fixed designs.
He further emphasised that local residents and relevant stakeholders must play a responsible role in maintaining these facilities.
He added that there is no alternative to sports for forming a healthy nation. Announcing that the second phase of ‘Notun Kuri Sports’ will begin this September, he said grassroots sportsmanship would be further advanced by forming teams starting from the union level.
Aminul expressed hope that the construction of this modern mini stadium would help produce skilled national-level players from Patiya in the future. He also expected the project to be completed quickly with everyone’s cooperation.
Mohammad Enamul Haque, lawmaker for the Patiya constituency, said that the initiative was taken in response to a long-standing demand from the sports community in Patiya. Once constructed, local players will have the opportunity to train in a modern environment, creating a platform for the development of new talent.
He also affirmed that work on the development of education, health, and sports sectors will continue.
The ceremony was presided over by Patiya Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Convener of the Upazila Sports Association, Farhanur Rahman.
