A delegation from the Commonwealth Observer Group, led by Nana Addo Akufo-Addo, paid a courtesy call on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Bangladesh, Baharul Alam, at the Police Headquarters on Tuesday.

During the meeting, various aspects including election period security issues were discussed. The head of the Commonwealth Observer Group mentioned that 25 observers from their team will be participating in the upcoming election and inquired about the security arrangements for the group’s observers during the election and the election period.

The IGP detailed the comprehensive preparations, including risk-based security planning, cyber monitoring, and the use of modern technology, to maintain electoral law and order. He stated that all necessary security measures have been taken in accordance with the directives of the Election Commission and the Ministry of Home Affairs to ensure the safety of foreign observers and journalists.

Senior officials of the Bangladesh Police were also present at the time.
