Coast Guards have seized 45 kg of venison and 12 deer legs from Shyamnagar in Satkhira.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haque confirmed the news via a press release.
According to the release, the Coast Guard team from Kaikhali, Shyamnagar, seized venison and legs from the Parshikhali Bridge area at midnight on Saturday. However, the poachers fled the scene upon noticing the presence of the Coast Guard personnel.
The operation was carried out based on a tip-off regarding a group of poachers hunting deer in the Sundarbans and selling venison. The Coast Guard team found the items in a bag abandoned by the poachers, which contained approximately 45 kg of venison and 12 legs.
The seized venison was handed over to the Tengrakhaly patrol post forest office for further legal action.
The Coast Guard has pledged to continue such operations to prevent wildlife poaching and trafficking.
