CNG-bicycle collision leaves rider dead in Dhaka’s Khilkhet

A 24-year-old cyclist was killed after being hit by a CNG auto-rickshaw in the Nikunja-1 area of Khilkhet, Dhaka, on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Emon Hossain, a resident of the Basila Metro Housing area in Mohammadpur. He worked at a glasses shop in Farmgate.

The accident occurred around 1 pm. Emon was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead around 2:30 pm.

At the hospital, Emon’s father, Tipu Sultan, said his son had been married about a month and a half ago but had not yet brought his wife home.

Their ancestral home is in Shimulkandi village in Sadar upazila, Brahmanbaria.

Emon left home by bicycle on Saturday morning to go to work at Farmgate. From there, he went to the Nikunja area for some work, where the accident occurred.

Traffic police members at the scene rescued him in a bleeding condition and took him to Kurmitola General Hospital. He was later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Md Faruk, In-charge (Inspector) of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Camp, said the body has been kept in the morgue for autopsy. The matter has been reported to Khilkhet Police Station for investigation.
