Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Chief Additional IGP of police Md Sibgat Ullah, has issued a directive banning police personnel assigned to election duty from sharing any election-related photos, posts, comments, or information on social media.
Addressing field-level CID members, he ordered officers not to share any election-related photos, posts, comments or information on social media, and warned them against taking photographs with candidates or political figures or accepting any form of assistance from them.
Describing election duty as a sacred trust, he said neutrality, honesty and professionalism are moral obligations for every member of the Bangladesh Police.
He said Bangladesh Police Headquarters has already provided specialised training to CID field personnel, outlining clear conduct guidelines during the electoral period.
To ensure full impartiality, the CID chief directed personnel to make their own arrangements for food and personal necessities while on duty.
He also stressed the need for close coordination with other forces and institutions involved in the election to ensure overall law and order and security.
The instructions were delivered at a press conference where all district-level units of the Criminal Investigation Department were connected virtually.
