A child has died with measles-like symptoms at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH), bringing the total number of deaths in the hospital to four.
RMCH Focal Person of the special committee for measles treatment ANM Tanveer Chowdhury confirmed the matter on Tuesday.
Data from the office of the Rangpur Divisional Health Director indicates that 45 measles cases and six rubella cases were confirmed from 116 tests conducted between 1 January and 30 March.
The data includes 18 at Rangpur Medical, 9 in Nilphamari, 5 in Rangpur, 4 in Dinajpur, 3 at Dinajpur Medical, 3 in Thakurgaon, and 1 each in Kurigram, Gaibandha, and Panchagarh.
Moreover, 26 individuals were admitted to the outpatient departments and wards of district and upazila hospitals in the division in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of admissions in the division to 944, with 885 patients having returned home after receiving treatment and 59 currently remaining hospitalised.
