Television channels have unveiled extensive Eid line-ups this year, featuring special one-off dramas, serials, magazine programmes and celebrity-led shows aimed at enhancing festive viewing.
Limited drama slate on BTV
Bangladesh Television (BTV) has arranged a seven-day schedule for Eid. Continuing a tradition spanning more than three decades, the popular magazine programme ‘Ityadi’ will be broadcast after the 8:00 pm news on the day after Eid. BTV’s in-house show ‘Anandamela’ will air at 10pm on Eid day, hosted this year by Masuma Rahman Nabila and Irfan Sajjad.
A two-part special, ‘Eid Adda’, featuring artistes from two generations, will be aired on Eid day and the third day of Eid at 6:00 pm. Guests include Abul Hayat, Babita, Dilara Zaman, Aynun Putul, Khurshid Alam, Liza, Muhin and Nirob.
However, BTV will broadcast only five dramas this year: ‘Otit Bhalobasha’, ‘Labonno’, ‘Taskor Keyamoter Jadur Choti’, ‘Onabil Anondo’ and ‘Miss Ekal Mr Sekal’.
Channel i to premiere 16 new dramas
Channel i has planned eight days of programming, including 16 new dramas alongside films. Among the highlights is Sokhina, directed by Abul Hayat and based on a story by Rabeya Khatun. The film stars Shamol Mawla and Mousumi Mou and is slated to air on Eid day at 7:50 pm.
Also scheduled is ‘Sorol Sottobadi’, directed by Salauddin Lavlu, airing at 9:35 pm on Eid day. The cast includes Mamo, Saika and Lavlu himself.
‘Ondho Balok’, written and directed by Vicky Zahed, starring Tausif Mahbub and Sadia Ayman. The film will air on the third day of Eid at 7:50 pm.
‘Veja Chokh’, directed by Muhammad Mostafa Kamal Raj and starring Khairul Bashar and Tanjin Tisha, will be aired on the fifth day at the same time.
Maasranga to screen seven films
Maasranga Television will broadcast seven films across its seven-day schedule. ‘Utsob’ will air on the second day of Eid at 2:20 pm, while ‘Priyotoma’, directed by Himel Ashraf, will be aired at the same time on the second day of Eid. ‘Kajolrekha’ is set to air on the third day of Eid at the same time.
Other films include Jongli (directed by M Rahim), Toofan (Raihan Rafi), Hawa (Mejbaur Rahman Sumon) and Dard (Ananya Mamun), spread across the remaining consecutive days of the week.
Deepto TV lines up 14 films
Deepto TV will air 14 films, including the world television premiere of ‘Taandob’, starring Shakib Khan, at 1:00 pm on Eid day.
‘Omar’ will air on Eid day at 9:00 am. ‘Surongo’ and ‘Shikari’ will be aired at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm, consecutively on the second day of Eid.
For the rest of the Eid-week, at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm every day, the following titles will be screened: ‘Antarjal’, ‘Toofan’, ‘Prohelika’, ‘Nabab’, ‘Dhatteriki’, ‘Bir’, ‘Ma Babar Shopno’, ‘Nolok’, ‘Kheya Ghater Majhi’ and ‘Mayer Hate Behester Chabi’.
ATN Bangla opens with ‘Borbaad’
ATN Bangla has planned eight days of programming, beginning a day before Eid.
On Eid day, the drama ‘Bhalobeshe Obosheshe’, directed by Hanif Sanket, and starring Irfan Sajjad and Jannatul Sumaiya Himi, will be broadcast.
‘Borbad’, directed by Mehedi Hasan Hridoy and starring Shakib Khan and Idhika Paul, will air at 2:30pm on the day after Eid.
Nagorik TV to air 28 films
Nagorik Television will present one of the most extensive film slates this Eid, airing 28 films over seven days alongside dramas and celebrity shows.
A seven-episode drama series, ‘Black Money’, directed by Raihan Rafi and featuring Puja Chery, Rubel and Intekhab Dinar, will air daily at 8:00 pm.
The celebrity show ‘Taray Taray’, hosted by Srabonno Towhida, will be broadcast every day at 10:00 pm, with guests including Puja Chery, Purnima, Keya Payel, Irfan Sajjad, Chashi Alam, Shawon and Shirin Shila.
The film line-up includes ‘Unish 20’, ‘Black War’, ‘Toofan’, ‘Jongli’, ‘Taan’, ‘Don Number One’, ‘Super Hero’, ‘Nolok’, ‘Bhalobasha Aaj Kal’, ‘Top Hero’, ‘Rokto’, ‘Shikari’, ‘Lal Shari’, ‘Poramon 2’, ‘Amader Choto Saheb’, Badsha – The Don’, ‘Ful Nebe Na Osru Nebe’, ‘Honeymoon’, ‘Monogamy’, ‘Agni 2’, ‘Biye Bari’, ‘Hero 420’, ‘Dhaka Attack’, ‘Shopner Basor’, ‘Onek Sadher Moyna’, Munshigiri and ‘Dhaytterika’.
