Six candidates for the 24 director positions at the Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) have been elected unopposed, while 57 candidates are competing for the remaining 18 posts. The unopposed candidates include three from the Trade Group and three from the Town Association Group.
For the contested positions, 41 candidates are vying for 12 director seats in the Ordinary Member category, while 16 candidates are contesting for six seats in the Associate Member category. The official list of valid candidates was displayed at the Chattogram Divisional Commissioner’s office on Sunday (5 October).
The unopposed candidates from the Trade Group are Mohammad Akhtar Parvez, Mohammad Amirul Haque, and SM Saiful Alam, while the Town Association Group candidates are Absar Hasan Chowdhury, Mohammad Monir Uddin, and Mohammad Sajjad Un Nawaz.
Voting will be held from 9 am to 4 pm on November 1 for all 24 director positions. The election will fill 12 positions from the Ordinary Member category, six from the Associate Member category, and three each from the Trade and Town Association Groups.
The valid candidates for the Ordinary Member Group are: ASM Ismail Khan, ATM Rezaul Karim, Abu Haider Chowdhury, Ahmed Rashid Amu, Ahmed-ul Alam Chowdhury (Russell), Md Salamat Ali, Amanullah Al-Sagir, Asad Iftekhar, Emad Ershad, Jasim Uddin Chowdhury, Javed Siddiqui, Kamal Mostafa Chowdhury, Kazi Imran F Rahman, Masud Ahmed, Md Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, Md Abdul Quader, Md Absar Hossain, Md Abu Henna Farooqui, Md Arif Hossain, Md Ashiq Ibne Safa, Md Delwar Hossain, Md Golam Sarwar, Md Humayun Kabir Patwari, Md Jamal Uddin, Md Nazmul Huda, Md Shawkat Ali, Md Wahid Murad Chowdhury, Mohammad Azizul Haque, Mohammad Rashed Ali, Mohammad Shahidul Islam Chowdhury, Mohammad Alauddin Al Azad, Mohammad Habibur Rahman, Mohammad Musa, Mohammad Shafiul Alam, Rakibul Alam Chowdhury, Riaz Waze, Salauddin Ahmed, Sartaj Mohammad Imran, Shahidul Alam, Shahzada Mohammad Fawzul Alif Khan, and Tausif Ahmed.
The candidates for the Associate Member Group are: Md Kamrul Huda, Md Nezam Uddin, Md Parvez Iqbal Sharif, Md Selim Noor, Md Shawkat Ali, Mohammad Mashihul Alam, Mohammad Alauddin Al Azad, Mohammad Ayub, Md Nurul Islam, Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Mostaq Ahmed Chowdhury, SM Kamal Uddin, SM Nurul Haque, Sarwar Alam Khan, Syed Khurshid Alam, and Syed Mostafa Kamal Pasha.
Chattogram Chamber Assistant Secretary Md Tarek said, “The nomination verification process has been completed for all valid candidates across categories. Election preparations are now underway. Candidates wishing to withdraw may submit applications by 1 pm on October 8, with the final list to be published at 3 pm the same day.”
The chamber’s member voter list, published on September 14, includes 4,010 general members, 2,764 associate members, 5 town association members, and 10 trade group members.
