A case has been filed in connection with the murder of 15-year-old Tausif Rahman Sumon, son of a judge, who was killed inside his father’s apartment in Rajshahi.
Judge Abdur Rahman filed the case as plaintiff at Rajpara Police Station on Friday afternoon, naming Limon Mia as the sole accused.
Police initially detained Limon immediately following the murder. After the case was formally filed, he has now been officially shown as arrested.
Gaziur Rahman, spokesperson and deputy commissioner of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP), stated that the accused, Limon Mia, will be produced in court. “The truth behind the incident will be revealed after his interrogation is completed,” he added.
Meanwhile, the autopsy of Tausif Rahman was completed on Friday. The post-mortem was conducted at Rajshahi Medical College morgue by Dr Kafil Uddin, head of the Forensic Medicine Department, and lecturer Sharmin Sobhan Kaberi.
Dr Kafil Uddin informed journalists that the death resulted from excessive bleeding caused by sharp weapon injuries that severed blood vessels in three parts of the body, along with internal hemorrhage.
He further detailed that Tausif sustained sharp weapon injuries to his right thigh, right leg, and left arm. The cutting of crucial blood vessels in these areas led to both external and internal bleeding, which was identified as the primary cause of death.
While the police report mentioned bruise marks on Tausif’s neck, the examining physician clarified that such marks could have resulted from an attempt to suffocate him with a soft object. However, this was not the main cause of death.
The evidence suggests the sharp weapon attacks and attempted suffocation occurred simultaneously.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon at Judge Abdur Rahman’s rented residence in the Dabtola area of Rajshahi city.
The assailant entered the apartment and stabbed the Class 9 student to death. The judge’s wife, Tasmin Nahar Lucy (44), was also seriously injured in the attack and remains under treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
The accused, Limon Mia (35), was apprehended at the scene. He is also receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained during a struggle at the time of the incident. Limon is the son of Hemayet Mia Solaiman Shahid from Fulchhari upazila, Gaibandha.
