Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has expressed deep concern over the current health condition of former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, urging the nation to pray for her recovery.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Adviser’s officer on Friday, Yunus has been regularly monitoring her medical updates and has instructed relevant officials to ensure that every form of treatment and support required for her care is provided without delay.
Wishing the three-time former prime minister a swift recovery, the chief adviser appealed to citizens to keep her in their prayers. “There must not be any shortcomings in Begum Khaleda Zia’s treatment. The government is prepared to provide all necessary assistance,” he said.
He described Khaleda Zia as a profound source of inspiration for the nation during this period of democratic transition and said her well-being was of significant importance for the country.
The chief adviser also directed the relevant authorities to remain fully prepared and coordinated in extending all necessary support.
Earlier on Friday, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said Khaleda Zia’s health has become “very critical” and called on people across the country to pray for her recovery.
Speaking to reporters after a special prayer following Juma prayers at the Nayapaltan Central Jam-e-Mosque, Fakhrul said Khaleda Zia had been hospitalised after falling ill and that doctors declared her condition extremely critical on Thursday night.
He said BNP had asked mosques nationwide to offer prayers for her after Juma prayers. “As part of that programme, we prayed at the New Paltan Mosque, seeking Almighty Allah’s mercy for her recovery and good health,” he said.
