A local businessman was shot dead by unidentified assailants on Thursday afternoon in Khulna.
The deceased was identified as Sheikh Sohel, 45.
The incident took place around 3pm near a garage adjacent to a petrol pump in the Afil Gate area under the jurisdiction of Khulna City’s Khanjahan Ali Police Station.
Officer-in-Charge Havildar Sanwar Hossain Masum confirmed the killing.
According to witnesses, two young men wearing helmets were seen riding a blue motorcycle in the area several times before the attack.
They opened fire targeting Sohel Sheikh in the head, leaving him dead on the spot. The assailants fled immediately on the motorcycle, triggering panic among local residents.
