A businessman died after a glass shelf fell on him while he was sitting inside a shop at Baytun Nur Mobile Market in Khulna city on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Tarikul Islam.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Sonadanga Police Station Md Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter and said the incident took place around 8pm.
Tarikul was sitting on a stool, leaning back and looking at his mobile phone.
As he attempted to open a glass shelf with his other hand, a pane of glass suddenly detached from above and fell onto him, causing injuries.
Following the accident, Tarikul managed to walk out of the market to seek medical attention. However, he succumbed to his injuries due to excessive bleeding while on the way to the hospital.
