Aminul Islam Bulbul has resumed his duties at the Bangladesh Cricket Board after returning to the country, bringing an end to widespread speculation over his absence.
The former Bangladesh captain arrived in Dhaka from Sydney late on 28 March on a Singapore Airlines flight. He reported to the BCB office in Mirpur on Sunday afternoon and immediately began his official responsibilities.
Uncertainty had been growing around Bulbul’s absence, particularly amid ongoing instability within the BCB following the most recent elections. Domestic cricket activities have also been affected due to tensions between the board and club organisers.
His trip to Australia before Ramadan to spend time with family led to rumours that he might not return and could lose his position. However, his arrival has effectively dismissed those claims.
In recent weeks, nearly 50 club organisers, including Tamim Iqbal, approached the National Sports Council, alleging irregularities in the BCB election and questioning the legitimacy of the current board.
In response, the council formed a five-member independent committee to investigate whether there had been any misconduct or abuse of power during the election process.
Although the inquiry could not be completed within the initial deadline due to the Ramadan and Eid holidays, the report is expected to be submitted soon. The committee is set to consult BCB directors, complainants and other relevant stakeholders as part of its findings.
