Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD) has appointed Abul Kasem Khan as its chairperson for the 2026-27 tenure, the organisation said after its 39th Trustee Board meeting.
The board approved the appointment through a formal resolution under the BUILD Deed of Trust. Khan was nominated by the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He serves as vice chairman of A K Khan & Company Ltd and managing director of A K Khan Telecom Limited and has been a BUILD Trustee Board member since 2020.
Khan previously served as president of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2010, 2017 and 2018.
The Trustee Board also inducted a new slate of representatives, including: Taskeen Ahmed, president of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Kamran T Rahman, president of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Md Motahar Hossan, administrator of the Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry; AKM Asaduzzaman Patwary, acting secretary general of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Farooq Ahmed, secretary general of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Supported by DCCI, the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry, BUILD has served as the secretariat to the Private Sector Development Policy Coordination Committee at the Prime Minister’s Office since 2011.
The platform focuses on public-private dialogue across seven thematic areas, prioritising trade facilitation and improvements to the investment climate. It works to identify regulatory, procedural and policy barriers that affect trade, investment and industrial growth, and submits evidence-based policy recommendations to relevant ministries, departments and regulatory authorities.
BUILD also facilitates structured consultations between the government and private sector stakeholders as a national public-private dialogue forum.
