Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury on Monday said the government will allocate all necessary funds in the budget for implementing the Family Card programme.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists at the Secretariat on Monday.
The minister said the Family Card project is considered a flagship initiative of the BNP government.
He added that the government is working to ensure smooth implementation of the project.
He said, “Whatever amount of money is required for this project will be allocated in the budget. The government expects this initiative to ensure women’s empowerment in rural areas.”
The minister also said “Some minor mistakes were made during the implementation of the project. Such errors will not happen in the future.”
Earlier, on 10 March, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman launched the Family Card programme in line with the election manifesto.
The government plans to bring around four crore families under the scheme to provide relief to low-income households.
