BSF pushes 30 people through Meherpur border

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has pushed 30 people, including men, women and children, through the Tetulbaria border in Gangni upazila of Meherpur.

The incident took place early Wednesday.

According to a press release issued by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), the BSF forced the group across the border near pillar 140/6S, around 100 yards inside Bangladesh territory.

The individuals were reportedly trafficked into India through various border points. They were later detained by Indian police and kept in Kolkata jail before being returned to the Bangladesh side by the BSF.

Of those pushed in, 16 are men, 10 women and 4 children.

Gangni Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Boni Israil said the returnees will be handed over to their respective families after completing legal procedures
