Two Bangladeshi nationals were injured after allegedly being shot by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel along the Bashantapur frontier in Kaliganj Upazila, Satkhira, on Wednesday.

The victims were identified as Mohiuddin, 42, son of Golam Rabbani, and Md Shahin, 28, son of Fazar Ali Sardar, both residents of Kaliganj Upazila. They are currently receiving treatment at Satkhira Medical College and Hospital, confirmed Jewel Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Kaliganj Police Station.

Police said the two had travelled to India illegally around a year ago. Locals reported that the BSF opened fire on them early Wednesday as they attempted to cross back into Bangladesh via the Kalindi River, leaving them injured.

Community members rushed the victims to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex before they were transferred to Satkhira Medical College and Hospital for further treatment.
