Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) has cleared its outstanding income tax liabilities amounting to Tk29.15 crore for its first four fiscal years, settling all pending financial obligations to the government in a single installment.
The state-owned enterprise made the payment in June, covering the period from FY2018-19 to FY2021-22. The initiative came after the current management undertook a comprehensive review of the company’s financial history and outstanding dues.
According to BSCL officials, the settlement of these obligations marks a significant milestone in strengthening the company’s financial discipline and institutional accountability.
The move is expected to further reinforce BSCL’s financial foundation while promoting greater transparency and good governance in its future operations.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BSCL Imadur Rahaman said, “Since taking charge, we have placed the highest priority on establishing transparency and financial discipline within BSCL. We have been working systematically to resolve the company’s outstanding financial obligations inherited from previous years. The payment of the overdue income tax for four fiscal years is an important part of that ongoing effort.”
Notably, BSCL turned profitable for the first time in FY 2024-25. According to its financial reports, the company posted total revenue of Tk245.13 crore against total expenditure of Tk206.77 crore, yielding a net profit of Tk 38.35 crore.
