A BRTC double‑decker bus collided with a pillar of Dhaka’s Elevated Expressway at the Farmgate section earlier on Tuesday.
Several passengers sustained injuries, but authorities confirmed that none were seriously hurt, as the bus was not carrying many people at the time.
The accident took place at approximately 11:30 AM, as two BRTC buses raced side by side to pick up passengers. The bus on the right veered into a pillar, causing the upper deck roof to crumble backward.
Eyewitnesses noted that some passengers exited through windows to escape the damaged upper deck.
The Elevated Expressway link running through Farmgate is part of the country’s first elevated toll road, operational since 2023 and continuing to expand connectivity across the capital.
