BRAC University (BRACU) has made history by becoming the first university in Bangladesh to join the Internal Audit Academic Alliance programme as an “Academic Affiliate” for its efforts in internal audit education.
Nausheen Ahmed, head of Internal Audit and Compliance at BRAC University and secretary general of The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Bangladesh, appointed as the “Academic Alliance Coordinator” for both the university and IIA Global.
The recognition, confirmed on August 26, 2025.
This endorsement opens doors for the university to access grants, resources, and connections to over 150 colleges and universities worldwide, as well as global accreditations to strengthen its internal audit education offerings.
BRAC Business School is preparing to offer IIA-affiliated courses and provide free IIA membership to its students, greatly enhancing their professional development and international exposure.
The university’s inclusion in the programme also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), aimed at equipping students with essential skills for financial and professional success.
Established by the IIA and Internal Audit Foundation, the program recognises universities that incorporate internal audit education into their curriculum, helping prepare students for careers in internal audit.
