Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury on Tuesday said that BNP’s political stance does not allow any compromise on economic governance or financial discipline.

“I want to categorically say that whenever BNP assumed office in the past, no question had emerged regarding financial discipline or macroeconomic stability or the share market. So, be assured …,” he said.

He made the remarks while responding to a supplementary question from NCP lawmaker Md Abul Hasnat during a question-answer session in parliament.

He said both government-to-government initiatives and private recovery firms are working to recover siphoned-off funds.

“We have engaged appropriate mechanisms to recover the money. Alongside government efforts, private recovery firms are also working on the process,” he said.

He expressed hope that the funds would be recovered and reiterated BNP’s commitment to strengthening economic governance without compromise.
