BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has assured that the party will not allow any harm to come to innocent members of the Awami League, despite its activities being banned.
Addressing an election rally on Friday afternoon at Debipur Sholtohari Kolkuthi Bazar in Thakurgaon, Fakhrul stated that Sheikh Hasina fled the country, leaving thousands of her supporters and activists in danger.
“I want to tell her supporters who were left behind that we are by your side. We will not let any harm come to those who are innocent and have committed no crime,” he said while campaigning for the “Sheaf of Paddy” in the Thakurgaon-1 (Sadar) constituency.
During his campaign in the Debipur Adarsha Gram area, Fakhrul said entering heaven requires earning Allah’s satisfaction through prayer and fasting. He criticised a certain political party for selling “false dreams,” referring to Jamaat-e-Islami without naming them.
“A party is saying that voting for them will lead to heaven. If stamping a symbol could lead to heaven, then everyone would go there,” he added.
Regarding national governance, Fakhrul argued that BNP is currently the only party capable of moving the country forward based on its prior experience in power. He noted that Jamaat-e-Islami lacks experience in ruling or managing the state.
Fakhrul also called for communal harmony and national unity, stating, “We want to live together – Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, and Christians. There is no scope for us to be divided.”
Seeking votes for the “Sheaf of Paddy,” the BNP leader highlighted the party’s past development initiatives and pledged future progress for the region. Following the rally, he participated in several mass contacts and street meetings.
The event was attended by former chairman of Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) Ruhul Amin Khan and district BNP’s ex-joint general secretary Tajuddin Taju, alongside local activists.
