Police arrested a local BNP leader while he was selling yaba tablets in Phulchari, Gaibandha on Tuesday.
The arrestee is Firoz Kabir, general secretary of ward number 4 of Uria union unit of BNP.
Phulchari Police Station’s Officer-in-charge (OC) Durul Hoda confirmed the matter.
According to police and locals, acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid around 9pm. Firoz was caught red-handed while selling yaba. He is also accused of two drug cases.
OC Durul said, “Nine yaba tablets were recovered from him at the time of arrest. He is being interrogated. He will be sent to jail through the court tomorrow.”
