A BNP activist named Md Shamsul Huda has been fined Tk2,000 in Kotchandpur of Jhenaidah for violating the election code of conduct.

The mobile court was conducted at around 8pm on Tuesday at Mamunshia Bazar in Kushna Union of the upazila after he was found distributing leaflets seeking votes for the “sheaf of paddy symbol.”

The court was led by Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md Sohel Rana.

Kotchandpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Assistant Returning Officer Enamul Hasan confirmed the matter, saying that although the schedule did not allow campaigning at that time, information was received that an individual was distributing leaflets seeking votes in favour of the BNP-nominated candidate for the Jhenaidah-3 constituency in violation of the code of conduct.

He said the election magistrate was sent to the spot and, upon finding evidence red-handed, fined one person Tk2,000 under Section 27(a) of the Election Code of Conduct Rules 2025.

Officials and staff of the upazila administration and a team from the model police station were present during the court proceedings.
