bKash has launched a wider awareness drive aimed at preventing online gambling, hundi and money laundering, holding a series of engagement sessions with distributors in Dhaka, Chattogram and Cumilla as part of efforts to strengthen compliance and transaction monitoring across its nationwide network.

The mobile financial services provider recently organised four view-exchange sessions involving distributors and field-level personnel, with plans to gradually bring around 16,000 people, including distributors, regional sales teams and distribution channel field forces, under the training programme, the company said in a press release.

The initiative is designed to promote safe and risk-free financial transactions while enhancing awareness of financial crime risks at the grassroots level.

During the sessions, Irfanul Huq, Head of Distribution and Retail Business at bKash, highlighted the importance of compliance practices in managing financial transactions across the company’s extensive agent network.

The company’s distribution network plays a central role in delivering financial services to customers across Bangladesh. With approximately 350,000 agents operating nationwide, the network is a key component of bKash’s financial inclusion efforts.

Distributors, acting as channel partners, are responsible for overseeing and managing this network. Their responsibilities include supervising agent operations, providing training, ensuring transaction accuracy, promoting technology adoption and maintaining service quality.

According to bKash, the sessions provided an opportunity for distributors to share their experiences in maintaining compliance standards and managing operational risks.

Participants said strict compliance practices had helped strengthen business operations while reducing exposure to financial and operational risks.

The discussions also focused on the importance of vigilance and accountability in preventing illegal financial activities. The company called for increased monitoring, prompt reporting of suspicious transactions and greater awareness among stakeholders to curb online gambling, hundi and money laundering.

The programme forms part of bKash’s ongoing efforts to reinforce compliance standards across its distribution ecosystem and support safer digital financial transactions.

By strengthening awareness among distributors and field personnel, the company aims to improve risk management practices while ensuring that its services remain secure, reliable and accessible for customers across the country.
