bKash, the leading digital financial service provider in Bangladesh, is facilitating zakat and other charitable donations as users can disburse their preferred amount through more than 50 volunteer-based organisations using its mobile app.
In a press release, the company said users can donate throughout the year through these institutions, which includes As-Sunnah Foundation, Mastul Foundation, Bangladesh Thalassemia Foundation and Anjuman Mufidul Islam.
Other listed organisations include JAAGO Foundation, Dhaka Ahsania Mission, Center for Zakat Management and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society.
Users can also contribute to UNICEF, the World Food Programme, icddr,b, National Liver Foundation of Bangladesh and other social and voluntary organisations.
To donate through the bKash app, users must select the ‘Donation’ icon, choose an organisation, enter their name, email address and donation amount, and complete the transaction using their bKash PIN.
Donors who prefer anonymity can select the option not to share their identity.
An acknowledgement note is generated after the transaction, and users can view details about each organisation by clicking the ‘Know More’ section within the app.
Donors may contact the respective organisation through the email address provided in the acknowledgement note to learn how the funds are being used.
In addition to the mobile application, donations can also be made through the company’s official website.
