Anamul Haque Bijoy stepped back into the spotlight in Dhaka on Saturday, completed his move to Mohammedan, and addressed the fixing suspicion that kept him out of recent tournaments, urging the Bangladesh Cricket Board to present the matter clearly as he prepares for a Dhaka Premier League return.
Bijoy did not overstate his readiness. “I wouldn’t say I am 100 per cent ready, that’s the truth,” he said, before pointing to the 15 days in hand. He has already started training and believes he will reach full fitness before the league begins.
That honesty lands well. Players often hide behind safe lines, but Bijoy set a clear and realistic timeline for his comeback.
He then turned towards the noise surrounding him. “Everywhere I look, I see negativity and criticism. I don’t see anything positive, especially on social media,” he said.
That frustration reflects the wider problem. Social platforms amplify speculation, and in Bijoy’s case, the absence of a clear official narrative has allowed doubt to grow unchecked.
Bijoy wants that narrative fixed. “I want the BCB to present this matter properly to everyone, and I still want that,” he said, revealing he has already spoken with the board and its president.
That demand carries weight. In modern sport, silence from authorities often fuels more suspicion than clarity, and Bijoy has now pushed the responsibility back onto the board.
He also made his stance on the allegations clear. “I have done nothing, and that needs to be acknowledged and shared publicly,” he insisted, pointing out how different people and even sections of the media have described the situation in conflicting ways.
That inconsistency sits at the heart of the issue. When the story changes depending on who tells it, trust erodes quickly, and the player ends up carrying the burden.
Away from the controversy, Bijoy embraced his move to Mohammedan. “We grew up thinking about Abahani and Mohammedan. It’s a big club, and I now have the chance to play for one,” he said.
