Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and local villagers on Sunday night foiled an attempt by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to push 20–25 people into Bangladesh through the Gobindapur border in Birampur upazila of Dinajpur.
Locals said they saw the group gathered near Border Pillar No. 289/46‑S under Daudpur Border Outpost (BOP) of BGB’s 29 Battalion in Katla union around 11pm. Suspecting a push‑in attempt, they took position with sticks, reports UNB.
On information, a BGB patrol team from Daudpur BOP rushed to the spot. Camp Commander Mahabur Rahman said BSF opened a gate in the barbed‑wire fence at night and tried to push the group into Bangladesh.
Villagers noticed the move and chased them. When BSF saw the BGB patrol team, they were forced to take the group back, Mahabur said.
No presence of the people was reported along the border on Monday morning, he added.
